The Treasure Chest Shop Opens Second Community Shop In Inchicore.

On Saturday 8th June 2019, The community of Inchicore saw and welcomed the opening of a community shop. The Treasure Chest Shop opened up their second such shop on Grattan Crescent, which saw the opening ceremony well attended by the local people. The event got off to a good start with the cutting of a ribbon by Peter McVerry, his presence causing a bit of a stir with the local residents and business.

Inside the shop there was a good complimentary spread laid on for everyone who turned up. The spread included hot finger foods, homemade cakes, biscuits, etc, with plenty of tea and coffee to wash it all down.

Angela Matthews, who once worked for the local NCBI charity shop is the driving force behind these community shops. Angela went on to say after she finished working for the local branch of NCBI, she toyed with the idea of opening up a community shop to help local community based groups in the area.

Every so often Angela and her volunteers would gift local groups in the area with cash donations to help them on their way. Angela is also very passionate about helping the victims caught up in the current homeless crisis. In the past she has allowed homeless people come to her shop for clothing items some homeless people would often turn up soaked to the skin after spending the previous night sleeping rough in the rain. There they would be given fresh warm clothes, some food, and they would always leave on a natural high.

Angela and her team of volunteers are always helping people caught in the homeless crisis and in the past has donated food items to Bridges of Hope homeless outreach which was given out on their weekly Saturday Stall on North Earl/ Talbot Street here in Dublin City.

If you would like to donate any items of Mens, Ladies, and or Children’s clothing, Bric a Brac, Household items, Small Kitchen Appliances, (ie) Microwaves, Toasters, etc TV’s, Stereos, Kitchen Delp, etc Angela and her dedicated team of volunteers will gladly accept them you can bring your donation up to their Grattan Crescent shop, which is directly facing the Black Lion pub, here in Inchicore, Monday to Saturday from 9:am to 5:30pm. Or you can telephone Angela on 085-7024-629 for more information.
